Bollywood veteran singer Udit Narayan is in news again and this time it is at the personal front. Udit's first wife, Ranjana Jha, has filed a maintenance case against him. She has accused him of violating her rights and usurping her property.
Udit Narayan had also attended a hearing at the Supaul Family Court on Friday (February 21), he has declined any settlement in the case.
According to a report in Navbharat Times, Udit Narayan has alleged that his first wife Ranjana is trying to extort money from him.
Earlier a case was also filed against Udit with the Bihar Women's Commission, but it had been resolved through a settlement.
The NBT report further revealed that Udit Narayan had giving Rs 15,000 per month to Ranjana earlier and it was later increased to Rs 25,000 in 2021. He had also provided her with some farm land and a house worth Rs 1 crore.
The Bihar Women’s Commission also found that Udit Narayan had given her jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh and a land which she sold later.
Ranjana's lawyer has said that as her health is declining she wants to stay with Udit now.
Ranjana Jha told the media that she feels ignored by Udit and also claimed that he hid Rs 18 lakh from the sale of their land from her.
Ranjana has also alleged that whenever she visits Mumbai, she faces threats and intimidation.
Udit tied the knot with Ranjana in 1984, but as he started doing well in his career, he distanced himself from his wife.
According to Ranjana, Udit even stopped acknowledging their marriage.
It was in 2006 that Ranjana approached the Women’s Commission. She claims that Udit had initially assured her of a home and financial support, but those promises were never kept.
This entire controversy comes at a time when Udit Narayan is already being criticised for his kiss controversy.
