Born in 1957 to filmmaker and writer C. L. Dheer, Pankaj grew up surrounded by the art and craft of storytelling. Chopra’s production team. Initially, he auditioned for the role of Arjuna, but destiny had other plans. He was recast as Karna—a decision that defined his entire career and legacy.

After Mahabharat, Pankaj Dheer went on to play powerful and villainous roles in Hindi films like Tahalka, Saugandh, Baadshah, and Soldier.

He became Bollywood’s go-to man for characters that needed both gravitas and menace. On television, he continued to shine in popular shows like Chandrakanta, Yug, and Badho Bahu, proving his versatility and range. His commanding presence and baritone voice gave even his smallest roles a memorable weight.
