The highly awaited fourth season of the lighthearted murder mystery show ‘Only Murders In The Building’ has finally set a release date for 27 August. The show also dropped its first teaser on Tuesday.
The announcement and the teaser reveal were done on Disney’s upfront presentation to advertisers in New York.
In the teaser, it is shown that the main trio (Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin) learn that a Hollywood studio wants to make a movie on their podcast which sends them on a trip to Los Angeles while simultaneously trying to solve the murder of Sazz Pataki, played by Jane Lynch, Steve Martin’s character’s former stunt double.
The official description for season 4 says: “Charles, Oliver & Mabel wrestle with the shocking events at the end of season three surrounding Charles’ stunt double & friend Sazz Pataki. Questioning whether Sazz or Charles was the intended victim, our trio’s investigation leads them all the way to Los Angeles where a Hollywood studio is readying a film about the Only Murders podcast. As our amateur sleuths race back to New York, they embark on an even more epic journey — traversing their building’s courtyard to delve into the twisted lives of the Arconia’s West Tower residents.”
John Hoffman, the show runner, told The Hollywood Reporter that season 4 will be about “consequences”.
He said, “I think the idea of what you create is a thing you put out to the world, and sometimes you can’t be prepared for the repercussions of what potentially the world does with your thing, and how they feel about it”
The season 4 of the Hulu comedy also stars Michael Cyril, Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis, Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, Melissa McCarthy, Richard Kind, and more.
According to Variety, ‘Only Murders In The Building’ is Hulu’s most watched comedy series to date. The series has a score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 3 was also nominated for Emmy Awards including Best Comedy Series and Best Actor in a Comedy Series.
