KBC 17: Junior contestant Purav calls Amitabh Bachchan ‘bhoot uncle’, host’s hilarious reaction wins hearts

The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 turned into a laughter fest when Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary host, found himself being playfully renamed “Bhoot Uncle” by a young contestant, Purav Bhattacharyya from Kolkata.

The junior special episode, filled with fun, wit, and endearing innocence, offered viewers a refreshing break from the usual high-stakes tension of the quiz show.

As soon as Purav took the hot seat, his candid energy lit up the stage. While interacting with Bachchan, the young contestant referred to him as “Bhoot Uncle,” cheekily recalling the actor’s iconic role in Bhootnath.

Amused, Big B responded, “I had played a role in Bhootnath, but I am not a bhoot.” Without missing a beat, Purav insisted, “Yes, you are.” The audience erupted in laughter as the host played along, asking if Purav had ever seen a ghost. Purav grinned and replied, “Yes, you.” The hilarious exchange quickly became the highlight of the evening.

Purav went on to play confidently, using his first lifeline on the opening question and answering correctly. He later advanced to the Super Sandook round, where he earned 70,000 points and revived the Audience Poll lifeline. However, his run ended at the Rs 7,50,000 question after an incorrect answer, taking home 5 lakh points.

Adding to the charm of the episode, all the young participants joined together to celebrate Bachchan’s upcoming birthday on October 11 with a special performance. The gesture moved the host, who smiled warmly as the studio filled with applause and music.

After Purav’s exit, Divisha Vaishnav from Ajmer took the hot seat. A self-proclaimed chess champion, Divisha began playing during the Covid-19 lockdown and now competes at national-level tournaments. Her spirited personality quickly caught Bachchan’s attention. At one point, he teased, “Aap bolte rahoge ya hum aage khele?” to which she quipped, “Nothing stays in my stomach. I need something for digestion. Aap khele, I have a lot to talk.”

Divisha advanced to the 3 lakh point mark, becoming the rollover contestant for the next episode. The Junior Special week underscored what fans love most about KBC, Bachchan’s effortless warmth, the children’s unfiltered joy, and moments that turn an ordinary game show into unforgettable television.
