For the unversed, Abhijeet appeared to have undergone a complete personality shift, turning into a villain with intense anger. Fans and theorists suggest this may be an elaborate undercover operation or a "betrayer of the country" ruse to infiltrate a larger criminal network, similar to previous deep-cover plots in the franchise. A major mid-season cliffhanger that reached its emotional peak in the finale was the revelation regarding the forensic expert, Dr. Salunkhe.

ACP Pradyuman revealed that Dr. Salunkhe was the team’s "Gaddar" (traitor). He confessed to aiding the villain Barboza out of frustration that the fieldwork team always received the credit for his forensic breakthroughs. Salunkhe was arrested and sent to jail. However, this could also be part of a secret plan to root out the true masterminds behind the Golden Eye Gang.
