Actor Tom Cruise recently stirred buzz by making a rare remark about his ex-wife Nicole Kidman, more than two decades after their divorce.
In a candid moment during a recent interview, Cruise reflected on their collaboration in the 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut, directed by Stanley Kubrick. While discussing the film, he revealed that it was he who had recommended Nicole Kidman for the role of Alice, commending her acting talent.
This acknowledgment of Kidman's skills and their past professional partnership has captured widespread attention, marking a notable moment in Cruise's otherwise private stance on their past relationship.
As cited by Deadline, Tom said, "I suggested Nicole play the role. Because obviously she is a great actress."
Tom Cruise’s recent remarks about Nicole Kidman mark a notable shift from his long-standing reticence on matters of his personal life, particularly regarding his former marriage to the acclaimed actress. Cruise and Kidman, who tied the knot in 1990, were one of Hollywood’s most talked-about couples during their decade-long marriage.
Before splitting up and getting a divorce in 2001, the couple adopted two kids together, Isabella and Connor. Since then, Cruise has mostly avoided discussing Kidman in public.
The last time he did this was in 2002, not long after they split up, when he merely wished her well and accepted that they had both moved on. His latest acknowledgment of her talent and their past collaboration offers a rare glimpse into his personal reflections on their shared history.
Before Kidman, Tom Cruise was married to Mimi Rogers from 1987-1990. After separating from Nicole, he went on to marry Katie Holmes with whom he has a daughter Suri Noelle.
On the work front, Tom Cruise will be next seen Mission Impossible 8, set to release in India on May 17, 2025.
