There is good news for The Devil Wears Prada fans - who loved to hate Miranda Priestly or just fell in love with Andrea Sachs or felt bad for Emily Charlton - will get to see their favourite characters soon back on screen.

Yes! You read it right - the official remake of The Devil Wears Prada is in works eighteen years after the first part became a superhit.

According to reports, both Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt are most likely to reprise their roles in the sequel as well.

Many die hard fans of the 2006 hit movie directed by David Frankel have been asking for its remake and more so after the small reunion at the Screen Actors Guild awards where both Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt were seen with Meryl on stage.

According to report by Puck, the sequel is in works and Meryl Streep will reprise her role of Miranda Priestly.

What to expect in the sequel of The Devil Wears Prada

The report in Puck further says, that this time the story would show how Miranda is struggling to keep pace with the digital era. Miranda is the editor of leading fashion magazine Runaway but is worried with the decline in traditional print business.

It is then that Miranda has a face off with her former assistant Emily Blunt's character Emily Charlton, Emily is a senior executive at a luxury group.

Miranda needs revenue for ads, will Emily help out her ex boss will form the crux of the story.

The Devil Wears Prada's writer Aline Brosh McKenna is in talks to script the sequel as well.

Going by the plot, it is almost confirmed that Emily and Meryl will be onboard but there is no confirmation on whether Anne Hathaway aka Andrea Sachs will join the duo or not.

Anne's character was also the assistant of Miranda, but she chose to walk away from the fashion house to pursue her career in journalism.

The Devil Wears Prada movie was based on Lauren Weisberger's novel of the same name.

It revolved around a young woman's difficult experience of working at a very successful fashion magazine.

Lauren had once mentioned that Miranda Priestly's character was somewhat modelled on Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

The film was a massive success upon its release in 2006 and it earned $326.7 million worldwide.

Meryl Streep won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy and an Oscar nomination.
