Taylor Swift has recently created a buzz among the Swifties with the announcement of her upcoming album. She has also unveiled the tracks of her album, and a particular song is making headlines.

Swifties have been speculating that the song Ruin the Friendship, on her next album Life of a Showgirl, refers to the dissolution of her close friendship with actress Blake Lively.

Taylor Swift and Blake Lively, who became friends in 2014, frequently displayed their friendship in public. Taylor mentioned Blake and Ryan Reynolds' kids in one of her songs, while Blake named Taylor the godmother to her two daughters.

According to People, Taylor and Blake’s friendship has hit a road bump following Taylor being pulled into court proceedings against Blake’s It Ends With Us co-star, Justin Baldoni.

Taylor was subpoenaed by the legal team of Justin during his battle with Blake, according to several sources. Although she never wanted to be in the limelight, according to reports, the subpoena put her there. Sources say Taylor was "hurt badly" by the experience and although Blake tried to shield her from the legal brawl, their friendship suffered a setback.

Recent media reports, however, suggest that the two stars have either suspended their friendship or are giving each other space. While some publications suggest they might be trying to reconcile, others are certain the relationship will never get back to how close they were before.

Fans quickly linked Ruin the Friendship to this fallout, analysing its lyrics for clues. However, industry sources insist the track was written months earlier, during the London leg of the Eras Tour, before Taylor’s name surfaced in Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit.

Despite the song's background, rumours persist, with most seeing it as a depiction of Taylor's feelings about the loss of a treasured connection. What is certain is that a friendship once perceived as impenetrable has encountered some turbulence.
