Veteran actor Dilip Joshi, best known for his iconic portrayal of Jethalal in the long-running sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has recently gone viral for an unexpected reason—his remarkable 16 kg weight loss in just 45 days.

Social media erupted with admiration and curiosity after reports surfaced claiming the 57-year-old actor had undergone this transformation without any gym sessions or rigid dieting.

However, in a candid and humorous interaction with the paparazzi at a recent Mumbai event, Dilip finally addressed the buzz. As he walked the red carpet, a few photographers eagerly asked about the secret behind his drastic weight loss.

Laughing off the speculation, he replied, “Areey, 1992 mein kiya tha bhai, abhi pata nahi kissi ne social media pe chala diya yaar” (Oh, it was in 1992, brother. I don't know who put it on social media now).

The revelation drew chuckles from those around, as Dilip graciously thanked the photographers and entered the venue.

The actor’s comments refer to an old interview with Mashable India in 2023, where he discussed the transformation he underwent while preparing for his role in the 1992 Gujarati satirical film Hun Hunshi Hunshilal.

To embody the role of a scientist, Joshi adopted a disciplined yet simple fitness routine, balancing it alongside his office job at the time.

"I used to go to work, change at the swimming club, and run across Marine Drive to Oberoi (the hotel) in the rain, and then go back. I would jog the whole way, and it used to take me 45 minutes. I lost 16 kgs in one and a half months," he had said.

There were no fancy diets, no fitness trainers—just sheer dedication and consistency. His approach to fitness serves as a reminder that transformation doesn’t always require high-tech interventions; sometimes, determination and a bit of rain-soaked Marine Drive magic are enough.
