Taapsee Pannu recently addressed the old controversy where Rangoli Chandel referred to her as Kangana Ranaut’s "sasti copy." In a new interview, the actress maintained her stance and shared her perspective on the remark once again.
Speaking with ABP News, Taapsee responded with grace, saying, “Maybe I am ‘sasti’ because I don’t get paid as much as Kangana Ranaut. If being called a copy of such a talented actress is the case, I am okay with it.”
She further emphasized that a person’s words and conversations are a reflection of their upbringing and personality. “I can never say such things about any woman who has carved her own journey,” she added.
In the same interview, Taapsee also spoke about issues within the industry. Discussing biases in Bollywood, she pointed out that women-centric films often receive lower budgets and limited theatrical releases. The Thappad actress said both men and women in the industry must break these biases, as many filmmakers and actors aim to create social change. At present, Taapsee is gearing up for Anubhav Sinha’s next film. This will mark her third collaboration with the director after Mulk and Thappad. She was last seen in Dunki (2023) alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
Back in 2019, Taapsee Pannu shared her appreciation for the trailer of Judgementall Hai Kya on X (formerly Twitter). However, she did not mention Kangana Ranaut by name, which led to a sharp response from Kangana’s sister, Rangoli Chandel.
Rangoli accused Taapsee of imitating Kangana while refusing to acknowledge her, writing, “Kuch log Kangana ko copy kar ke hi apni dukaan chalate hain, magar please note, they never acknowledge her, not even a mention of her name in praising the trailer.”

She further referenced Taapsee’s past remark about Kangana needing a double filter and took a dig at her, saying, “Taapsee ji, you need to stop being a sasti copy.” Rangoli later reportedly deleted the post from X.
Taapsee Pannu was last seen in Dunki and is now preparing for her next project, an untitled film directed by Anubhav Sinha. Fans are eager to see what she brings to the screen next.
