Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen created history in 1994 when she became the first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe title, inspiring a whole new generation. She was crowned with the prestigious title exactly 31 years ago on May 21, 1994.
Sushmita has recently celebrated the milestone moment on her social media with a series of throwback photos from the historic win. The actress took to her Instagram to mark the moment and expressed gratitude to her parents.
The actress penned in the caption, “21st May 1994 #Manila… A historical win that introduced an 18yr old indian girl to the Universe!!! Opening up a world of possibilities, highlighting the strength of hope, the power of inclusion, the generosity of love…”
“Happy 31st also to my loved ones in the #Philippines & to you my darling @carogomezfilm #thinkingofyouall & #celebratingyou,” continued Sushmita.
Sushmita concluded her post while writing, “Here’s to dreams, the impossible kinds…for I know, the UNIVERSE conspires in our favour!! I love you guys!!! #duggadugga #yourstruly #MissUniverse1994 #India @missuniverse.”
She received love from her family, friends and fans, with several of them dropping red heart emojis in the comment section of the post.
