Best known for her parts in Qubool Hai, Naagin 3, and Ishqbaaaz, television actress Surbhi Jyoti married actor Sumit Suri in a stunning and private ceremony at a resort in Jim Corbett, Uttarakhand, in October 2024.
The couple, who dated for a number of years before getting married, have frequently talked about their close relationship and mutual understanding. Now, Surbhi revealed a special part of their married life that shows how in sync they are in an open interview with Pinkvilla.
In order to preserve their individuality and personal space, Surbhi and Sumit decided to keep separate rooms in their home, which is an unusual but considerate arrangement, she revealed.
“He also works from home, I also (do it) from home when I’m not shooting. We’re not desperate to go out, we’re just very happy (staying home). In our house, we have separate rooms out of choice. Because he lived on his own for most of his life. Same with me. It was a mutual decision. It’s rare, but it happens,” she said.
Elaborating further, Surbhi explained that having their own space has only strengthened their relationship. “My own cupboard, my own wardrobe, my own bathroom and my space. Sometimes he’s in his own, I’m in my room. Still, we’re together. This happened because we were on the same page. I’m not saying it’s the only way you can give each other space, but yeah. That’s how we’re doing it,” she added.

The actress emphasised that although this arrangement may not be appropriate for every couple, it is ideal for them. Their choice highlights the changing nature of contemporary relationships, where personal autonomy and emotional intimacy can coexist peacefully.
Surbhi's lifestyle is similar to that of Sumit Suri, a contestant on Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 4 and participant in projects like The Test Case. One of the main pillars of their happy marriage seems to be their mutual understanding of each other's needs for solitude and their respective work.
