Superboys Malegaon actress Manjiri Pupala reflects on her big break with Madhuri Dixit’s song, says, “My life has come full circle”

Manjiri Pupala talks about her film Superboys Malegaon

Rising star Manjiri Pupala is riding on the success of 2024 film, Superboys of Malegaon. The actress steals the spotlight with her powerful portrayal of her character Trupti. However, Manjiri recalled her childhood and reflected on the importance of her big break with Madhuri Dixit’s song, Ek Do Teen.

Manjiri recalled, “As a 90’s kid, no birthday parties were complete without us, children dancing on the trending songs. And I remember always choosing Madhuri’s ‘Ek Do Teen’ as my all-time favourite.”

The actress continued, “Now, having TRUPTI—my character—enter over THIS very same song in my debut film, feels like my life has come full circle. It’s poetic justice to my childhood obsession with Bollywood. There couldn’t have been a better launch for me to enter the big Bollywood dream."

Superboys Malegaon is written by Varun Grover and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. The film received international recognition as it premiered at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival.

Superboys Malegaon was hit among the audience and critics alike with a standing ovation post the screening.

Manjiri was previously seen in various noteworthy projects like Dahaad, Gaslight, Betaal, among others. She is expected to be next seen in Dhadak 2 alongside Tripti Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the upcoming film explores the challenges of a people from different castes who fell in love. The film is produced by Dharma Productions, Cloud 9, and Zee Studios and is a sequel to the 2018 movie Dhadak.
