Sukriti Veni Bandreddi recieves National Award

Sukumar who is best known for making Pushpa and many other renowned film had a special moment in his life as his 15-year-old daughter Sukriti Veni Bandreddi recieved a national award today.

She quickly captured hearts across the country with her incredible debut performance in Gandhi Tatha Chettu.

As she played a young girl motivated by Mahatma Gandhi's ideals, fighting nonviolently to save her grandfather's cherished tree, her inherent charm and emotional depth were evident.

She won the National Award for Best Child Artist for this role, which is a significant accomplishment for someone who is so new to the field.

Sukumar was particularly proud of this moment, both as a renowned director and as a father watching his daughter enter the spotlight with such poise and confidence.

Furthermore, Sukriti views winning one of India's most coveted awards at the outset as a dream beginning that portends a promising future.

After President Droupadi Murmu, to mark this special occasion, Telangana’s Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also honoured Sukriti and her father in Hyderabad.

The ceremony was a warm gathering, with the film’s producer and other guests joining in to celebrate. The Chief Minister praised Sukriti’s heartfelt performance and encouraged the young star and the whole team, recognising what this moment means for both Sukriti and Telugu cinema.

Gandhi Tatha Chettu, which was directed by Padmavathi Malladi, is a lovely tale of a 13-year-old girl named Gandhi who fights for the preservation of a beloved tree in her village while embracing non-violence.

The film has received accolades for its poignant message and moving narrative since its late 2024 international festival debuts in Minsk and Jaipur.

The movie was released in January 2025 and was produced by Naveen Yerneni, Ravi Shankar, and Sesha Sindu Rao under the banners of Mythri Movie Makers, Sukumar Writings, and Gopi Talkies.
