Popular stuntman SM Raju died on Sunday while working on the set. He was reportedly performing a high-risk car toppling stunt on the sets of Arya’s upcoming film.
However, Tamil actor Vishal has recently taken to his X (formerly Twitter) and confirmed the news in an emotional tribute. He also confirmed that Raju died while performing the car toppling scene for Pa. Ranjith’s directorial film.
Vishal tweeted, “So difficult to digest the fact that stunt artist Raju passed away while doing a car toppling sequence for Jammy (@arya_offl) and @beemji Ranjith’s film this morning. I have known Raju for so many years, and he has performed so many risky stunts in my films time and again. He was such a brave person. My deepest condolences and may his soul rest in peace.”

He concluded his tweet while writing, “From the bottom of my heart and as my duty, I extend my support for them. God bless.”

For the unversed, SM Raju was a well-known name in the Kollywood film industry for his fearless execution of high-risk action sequences. He has worked in several blockbusters and has collaborated with prominent actors as well as filmmakers over the years. He frequently earned praise for his skill, dedication, and courage.
However, Raju was reportedly working on the film at the time of his accident is thought to be the sequel to the 2021 Tamil sports drama Sarpatta Parambarai. It is set to be released in theatres in 2026.
