Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 has taken the global box office by storm, exceeding all expectations with its content, dominance, and a bit of luck on its side. The film has now outdone Aamir Khan’s PK in worldwide collections, cementing its place among the top-grossing Indian films of all time.
Released on August 15, 2024, Stree 2 faced a tough competition from Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein domestically. Internationally, it had to contend with Hollywood giants like Deadpool & Wolverine, It Ends With Us, and Alien: Romulus. However, Amar Kaushik’s direction, backed by pre-release hype and positive reviews from paid previews, gave the film an edge, allowing it to emerge victorious despite the crowded market.
After a strong 35-day run, the film has amassed a net total of Rs 588.10 crores in India and is on the verge of reaching the ₹700 crore mark in gross domestic earnings, with the current tally standing at Rs 693.95 crores. On the international front, Stree 2 has collected a gross of Rs 137.60 crores. Combined, this brings the worldwide gross total to Rs 831.55 crores.
With its theatrical journey approaching its final stage, Stree 2 is projected to conclude with a global gross nearing Rs 850 crores. The film has also made its mark in the record books, entering the top 10 highest-grossing Indian films globally. It has overtaken PK (which had lifetime earnings of Rs 831.50 crores) to secure the #8 spot on the prestigious list.

Looking ahead, the next target on the horizon is Baahubali 2 (Hindi), which earned a colossal Rs 893.19 crores. However, due to the substantial gap, Stree 2 is unlikely to reach this milestone, but its dominance at the box office has already cemented its success as one of the top Indian films in recent years.
