Sonu Sood mourns death of 8-year-old Abhijot Singh, who battled rare kidney disorder; promises to stand by his family

Despite support from Sonu Sood and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, 8-year-old Abhijot Singh tragically lost his battle with a kidney disorder. Mourning his loss, Sood wrote, "Avijot... you inspired me with your strength... I’ll always be there for your family. RIP little angel."

Despite heartfelt efforts from philanthropist Sonu Sood and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to support his family, young Abhijot Singh couldn’t survive the illness he had been bravely fighting.

His passing has left not only his loved ones devastated, but also moved countless others who had come to know his story through television and social media.

Sonu Sood took to Instagram to mourn of the loss of the eight-year-old, writing "Avijot , from the day I met you, you inspired me with your strength. Today I say goodbye, but I’ll always be there for your family RIP little angel"

Abhijot was just eight, but his days were filled with hospitals, needles, and long journeys to Chandigarh for treatment. He had been diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, a chronic kidney condition that demanded close monitoring and expensive care.

Every two months, his family had to make the exhausting trip to PGIMER, with each visit costing around Rs 45,000—an unimaginable figure for a household dependent on farming.

But even in pain, Abhijot remained gentle and hopeful. His parents, Jasbir Singh and his wife, clung to optimism, doing everything they could to keep him alive. As per NDTV, soctors had told them that with consistent treatment, Abhijot could beat the odds and live a normal life by the time he turned 18. That hope was enough to keep them going.

As torrential rains battered Punjab, their village was submerged.

Accordign to NDTV, the family’s farm—already struggling—was completely destroyed, wiping out their only source of income. The community was left stranded, unable to even access daily essentials. “There was so much water, we had to swim just to get essential supplies,” villagers.

It was during this crisis that Abhijot’s story touched hearts across the country. NDTV ran a special campaign to raise awareness. Sonu Sood stepped in, not just with money, but with his presence.

In his eight short years, Abhijot Singh showed remarkable courage.
