The much-awaited sequel to Tumbbad is gearing up to scale new heights, with reports suggesting that a massive set is currently under construction in Mumbai. Titled Tumbbad 2, the film is already generating significant buzz among fans eager to revisit its dark, mythical world.

Led by actor-producer Sohum Shah, the sequel promises to be far more ambitious than its predecessor. According to industry sources, a sprawling 7–8 acre set is being built in Mumbai, designed as a full-scale city for the film’s first shooting schedule. The scale of the set hints at a visually grand and immersive cinematic experience.

The original Tumbbad earned critical acclaim for its unique storytelling, atmospheric horror, and mythological depth. Although it had a modest run during its initial release, the film achieved cult status over the years. Its re-release in 2024 further cemented its legacy, emerging as one of the highest-grossing re-released Indian films and reigniting audience interest in its eerie universe.

According to an independent industry source, “A massive 7–8-acre set is being constructed in Mumbai for the film. It will be a full-scale city, being created for the film’s first schedule. Not much is known about the film’s plot or treatment, aside from the fact that Sohum will reprise his role.” The source further adds that the sequel is shaping up to be significantly bigger in ambition and scale than the first part.

While details about the plot of Tumbbad 2 remain tightly under wraps, it has been confirmed that Sohum Shah will reprise his role. The secrecy surrounding the storyline has only added to the intrigue, with fans speculating about how the sequel will expand on the original film’s haunting narrative.

The project is being backed by Sohum Shah Films in collaboration with Pen Studios, headed by Jayantilal Gada. Pen Studios has a strong track record, having supported major films like RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi.
