Smriti Mandhana’s fiance, music composer Palash Muchhal, has been discharged from the Mumbai hospital where he had been admitted for the past three days following a sudden health scare. Hospital authorities at SRV Hospital in Goregaon confirmed his release on Wednesday, bringing a measure of relief to both families amid an already tense and emotional week.
Palash had been rushed to the hospital with chest pain and difficulty in breathing. Before being moved to Mumbai, he was briefly admitted to a hospital in Sangli, Maharashtra.
His medical team attributed the episode to acute emotional stress, given the circumstances surrounding the last-minute postponement of his wedding with Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana.
The couple was set to marry on November 23 in Sangli. Hours before the ceremony, Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, developed heart-attack-like symptoms, forcing the families to halt the celebrations. Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, said Shrinivas began feeling uneasy early in the day and his condition deteriorated quickly. “We decided not to take any risks. He was shifted to the hospital immediately and kept under observation,” he explained. Because Smriti is very close to her father, she chose to postpone the wedding indefinitely until his health stabilises.
As news of the abrupt change spread, speculation grew about tension between the two families. Reports even suggested that Palash’s family had abruptly flown back to Mumbai, adding fuel to the rumours. Palash’s mother later clarified that the real issue was her son’s health, not any disagreement. She told Hindustan Times that Palash was deeply affected by Shrinivas Mandhana’s medical emergency. “He cried so much that his health suddenly deteriorated. They kept him in the hospital for four hours. His ECG and other tests were normal, but he is under a lot of stress,” she said.

Palash’s sister, singer Palak Muchhal, visited him in the hospital and requested privacy for both families. In an Instagram note, she wrote that the wedding had been put on hold due to Smriti’s father’s condition and urged people not to speculate or invade the family’s space during a sensitive period.
Meanwhile, there has been good news for the Mandhana family. According to India TV, Shrinivas Mandhana was discharged from Sarvhit Hospital in Sangli on the morning of November 25 after receiving emergency care. Doctors monitored him closely following the scare, and his recovery has eased immediate concerns even as the families take time to regroup before deciding the next steps.
