Singer Abhijeet Sawant admits using dating apps after marriage: 'Biwi ko nahi pata tha...'

During a conversation with Hindi Rush, Abhijeet opened up about being active on dating apps. He revealed that one of his friends introduced him to them during his stay in the US.

Indian Idol's first season winner, singer Abhijeet Sawant recently made a very shocking revelation stating that he used 'dating apps' after his marriage and his wife has no idea about it.

During a conversation with Hindi Rush, Abhijeet opened up about being active on dating apps. He revealed that one of his friends introduced him to them during his stay in the US. “I'm a curious person. I've always had curiosity. I was in the US with my friend, and he said, 'This is a new app. It's for dating'. I made my profile then, and it was there as it is," he said.

But that is not all. He continued using it actively even after he got married to Shilpa Sawant and said that she didn't know about it. The singer stated, "Main kabhi kabhi beech mein jaata tha, dekhta tha kya hai yeh sab kya hota hai? Maine apna hi naam rakha tha sab kuch sahi tha. Biwi ko nahi pata tha. But kuch kiya nahi, kisise mila bhi nahi, kuch tha bhi nahi (Sometimes I used to go there in between, just to see what it was all about. I had used a different name, everything seemed fine. My wife didn’t know. But I didn’t do anything, didn’t meet anyone, there was nothing really.)

He also further revealed that he not only made an account of his name on dating apps but actually used them to match with girls and talked to them. He stated, “Match aata tha, baat karte the. Yeh cheeze na bohut ajeeb hai. Mujhe baat karne ka shokh hai aur aap ladkiyon se bohut deep baat karsakte ho...Main baat karta tha bohut. 2-3 log mil gaye the jo baat karte the acche se (Matches used to come, we used to talk. These things are quite strange. I enjoy talking, and you can have really deep conversations with girls... I used to talk a lot. I came across 2–3 people who were genuinely good to talk to.)

However, his dating profile once surfaced on Twitter and that is when re released that it doesn't look good for a married man. At the time, his wife Shilpa had no idea about his secret online activity. He added that she was completely unaware of it until now, and didn’t even know what Tinder was.

“Usko nahi pata abhi tak, ab pata chal raha. Woh bichari usko pata bhi nahi kya hota hai Tinder (She didn't know about it but know she does. Poor her, she doesn't even know what is Tinder)", Abhijeet added.

Abhijeet remarked that now that everything was out in the open, there was no point hiding it. He expressed the view that if someone wants to do something, they should do it openly, questioning how much one can really conceal.

Abhijeet and Shilpa tied the knot in 2007 after having known each other for the longest time since childhood. The couple have two children- Amit Sawanta and Sonali Sawant.
