July 26 marks Kargil Vijay Diwas, a solemn occasion when the entire nation comes together to honour the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War.
Actor Sidharth Malhotra, who portrayed Captain Vikram Batra in the 2021 film Shershaah, paid a moving tribute to the martyrs on this day.
Sidharth took to Instagram on Saturday to share a powerful message, alongside a photograph of Captain Vikram Batra, the Param Vir Chakra awardee who laid down his life fighting valiantly against Pakistani forces.
His post read, “To the countless brave hearts who stood tall so we could sleep safe & sound, your spirit lives on in every heartbeat of a proud and graceful nation. Saluting your sacrifice, today and always. #KargilVijayDiwas.”
The nation will never forget Captain Batra's bravery and selflessness, and his story was vividly portrayed in Vishnuvardhan's biographical war drama Shershaah.
The movie follows the soldier's incredible journey from his private life to the battlefield and starred Kiara Advani as Batra's fiancée, Dimple Cheema.
On Kargil Vijay Diwas, Akshay Kumar also paid homage to the brave soldiers on his Instagram Stories, joining countless others in honouring their memory. He wrote, "Un sabhi veeron ko shradhanjali, jinhone hume yeh aazadi, yeh garv aur yeh shaanti di. Kargil Vijay Diwas."

Regarding his career, Sidharth is currently preparing for Param Sundari, in which he will co-star with Janhvi Kapoor. For his part, he's also experiencing joy as Sidharth and his wife Kiara Advani welcomed their baby girl in July, beginning a lovely new chapter in their lives.
