Tamil TV actress Shruthi Narayanan recently found herself at the centre of a disturbing controversy after videos allegedly featuring her in a casting couch scenario went viral on social media.
Breaking her silence, Shruthi Narayanan vehemently denied the authenticity of the videos, calling them AI-generated and part of a deliberate effort to damage her reputation.
Shruthi shared a reel on her Instagram stories on 28th March featuring an influencer discussing how simple it is to create AI-generated videos these days. She also added a message expressing how painful the entire situation has been for her and her family, urging others to show more compassion.
She mentioned, “For you guys, spreading all these contents on me it’s just a joke and fun content. For you guys, spreading all these contents on me it's just a joke and fun content. But for me and my close ones, this is a very hard situations for us. Especially for me it is a very difficult time and it's a difficult situation to handle it.”
Shruthi told those spreading the video just made it worse for her adding, “I'm also a girl and I also have feeling and my close ones also have feeling and you guys just make it worse and worse.” Requesting people not to spread it like ‘wildfire’ she questioned if people would do the same if it was women from their families in the video.
In another post, Shruthi shared legal provisions under which action can be taken against those circulating her video, writing, “Start being human. Sharing leaked videos, whether real or deepfake, is a criminal offence in India. Here are the legal provisions under which action can be taken.”
In another post she pleaded with them to show more responsibility and not to contribute to the spread of false narratives, writing, "I am also a girl and have feelings. You guys make it worse. See the videos of your mother, sister, or girlfriend, because they have the same body as me. Go and enjoy their videos."
