Following the untimely passing away of actress and model Shefali Jariwala, the makers of the iconic 2002 music video Kaanta Laga have put all speculation about a sequel to rest. Director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who launched Jariwala into national fame with the track, shared an emotional tribute, stating that the song would forever belong to her and would not be recreated.
In a heartfelt statement, the filmmakers remembered Shefali and their journey together. “Yesterday Was The Prayer Meeting. Saying The Final Goodbyes... With Our First Photo Session Together.. 'Kaanta Laga' - CD Inlay Card (sic),” they wrote.
Recollecting their time on set and the impact Jariwala had, they added, “You Always Said You Wanted To Be The One And Only 'Kaanta Laga' Girl. So We Never Made A Sequel -- And We Never Will. We're Retiring 'Kaanta Laga' Forever. It Was Always Yours. It Will Always Be Yours... Shefali...RIP (sic).”
Jariwala’s husband, actor Parag Tyagi, also broke his silence with a moving social media post. “Shefali — the ever-eternal Kaanta Laga — was so much more than what met the eye. She was fire wrapped in grace — sharp, focused, and fiercely driven. A woman who lived with intention, nurturing her career, her mind, her body, and her soul with quiet strength and unwavering determination (sic),” he wrote.

A prayer meeting was held in Mumbai on Wednesday, five days after her sudden death. Close friends and family gathered to pay their last respects to the star who left an indelible mark on the Indian pop culture landscape.
Meanwhile, the investigation into Jariwala’s death is ongoing. Authorities revealed they found Glutathione injections, Vitamin-C pills, and other medications at her residence. An officer told India Today, "She (Jariwala) was taking medicines herself for anti-ageing and skin glow."
