Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh is currently running in the theatre and receiving compliments from critics and audiences alike. However, Indian politician, writer, and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor has also chimed in to shower praise on the film and the makers.
He recently watched Kesari 2 in the theatres and talked to the paparazzi. During the conversation, the politician said, “I thought was an amazingly well-made, well-crafted film. It took some liberties with historical facts, but it says at the very beginning it's fiction. But what it did was capture the spirit of resistance, specifically using the instruments of the British court system.”
He explained, “You can’t win in the end, and we sadly waited twenty-eight years after Daniel Wallad to become free. But the message of the film was brilliantly done. I must say, as usual, in a very high-quality production…”
Shashi Tharoor further complimented the acting of the actors and the filmmakers' directions and said, “The acting, the direction, the way the story unfolded, everything was just so compelling. There wasn’t one dull moment.”
He admitted while recalling, “I am a fan of Shankar and Nair for a long time. In fact, eight years ago here in Thrimanandapuram, I delivered a speech memorializing, talking about his life and achievements, but though some of this, of course, romanticizes him if you like in a very very positive way.”
Shashi Tharoor added, “I think the fact that he was a man of courage and principle and integrity comes through. He would never have used some of the words that Akshay Kumar uses. A particularly a certain fall as a word would never have come out of such a, I can tell you that for sure.”

He further noted that more movies like Kesari Chapter 2 should be made and said, “the spirit, the message, the very cleverly way in which the message was allowed to come across was extremely done and I will say that you know we need films to remind people of some of the cities that were infected MJ and Wallabag in particular was in many ways emblematic of the worst sins of the British Raj.”
For the unversed, Kesari Chapter 2 revolves around the life story of C. Sankaran Nair, the lawyer who fought for the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Ananya Pandey and R. Madhavan in the pivotal roles.
