Singer and songwriter Shakira was all set to perform at Washington, D.C.’s Nationals Park as a part of her WorldPride Welcome Concert, the largest LGBTQ+ festival in the world, on Saturday. Unfortunately, her gig has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
The latest cancellation came just a day after her concert at Boston's Fenway Park was abruptly cancelled. The official social media accounts of the baseball stadium announced the news, leaving the fans disappointed. The Instagram post revealed that Shakira’s latest gig was cancelled due to “complications with the previous show in Boston.
The statement also claimed that Shakira's full tour production equipment cannot be transported to Washington in time for Saturday's performance.
The statement reads, “Due to complications with the previous show in Boston, Shakira’s full tour production cannot be transported to Washington, D.C. in time for her scheduled performance at Nationals Park on Saturday, May 31.”
Shakira also released an official statement on Friday that reads, “Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am sad and heartbroken that I will not be able to be in Washington, D.C. with you tomorrow. I hope that I can come back to D.C., as soon as I am able.”
She added, “Meanwhile, please know that I am eternally thankful for you unconditional support.”
However, fans who purchased tickets on Ticketmaster and the Washington Nationals’ website will get the full refund.
The gig was a part of Shakira’s ongoing Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour. The singer seems to have hit multiple road bumps in her world tour, with several concerts having been cancelled at the last minute.
