Shah Rukh Khan surprises cast of 'Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical' ahead of UK Premiere

As the UK premiere of Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical draws near, Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan made a heartwarming surprise visit to the London rehearsal room, thrilling the cast and creators of the musical adaptation. Based on the beloved 1995 Hindi film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), in which Khan played the iconic role of Raj, the stage musical will debut at Manchester Opera House from May 29 to June 21, 2025.

Directed by Aditya Chopra, who also helmed the original film, Come Fall in Love reimagines DDLJ for the global stage. With 18 all-new English songs by Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, the musical blends East and West, romance and comedy, tradition and modernity.

Khan’s visit left the cast in awe. Jena Pandya, who plays Simran, said, “Meeting Shah Rukh Khan and having him in the rehearsal room was such an honour. He was so generous with his time and support for the show… Being able to show him some of the iconic scenes… was an incredible feeling.”

Ashley Day, who plays Rog (the stage version of Raj), added, “He greeted us all with such love and genuine excitement… He kept asking to see more! The words we shared privately are for one Raj to another Rog—but I will say, he was very happy.”

Vishal Dadlani described the moment as a “wonderful moment in time,” saying, “Raj met Rog, so to speak!... He met and engaged with every single person after watching the rehearsals and even re-lived his musical-theatre experiences from his early days.”

Sheykhar Ravjiani echoed the sentiment, calling the visit a cherished memory for all. “Meeting the original ‘Raj’ was an absolute delight... Theatre holds a very special place for Mr Shah Rukh Khan as his career began there.”

Featuring a diverse cast including Jena Pandya, Ashley Day, and Irvine Iqbal, Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical aims to celebrate love across borders. The musical captures the spirit of the original film while updating it with a global appeal and fresh storytelling.

The official press night is scheduled for June 4, 2025. With SRK’s blessing and excitement, this adaptation is already buzzing with anticipation.
