Shah Rukh Khan’s King is slowly shaping up to be one of his most ambitious films yet, and the latest update from the sets only adds to the excitement.
Director Siddharth Anand is now gearing up for a major action schedule in Mumbai, and it sounds like this one is going to be intense.
As per a report by Mid-Day, the team is set to begin shooting a large-scale fight sequence from March 23 at Golden Tobacco Studios in Vile Parle. A massive set, designed to look like an old, abandoned mill, has reportedly been built just for this portion of the film.
What makes it even more interesting is that 10 Russian fighters have been brought in to be part of the sequence, hinting at the scale and seriousness of the action being planned.
This is not just another flashy fight scene. The makers seem to be aiming for something more raw and grounded. An insider shared, “It’s one of the most elaborate action stretches planned for the film.” They also added, “The stunts designed are gritty and realistic, and the stunt artists have been prepping for the past few weeks.”
From the sound of it, this schedule will push both the actors and stunt team physically, with a strong focus on close combat and real, hard-hitting action.
With Shah Rukh Khan leading the sequence, this week-long shoot is expected to be a key part of the film. The use of international fighters also shows that the team wants this sequence to stand out and feel different from typical Bollywood action.
But King is not just about action. The film is also set to feature a big dance number, which Siddharth Anand is planning to shoot next month.
Speaking about it, an insider said, “It’s designed as a big moment in the film, visually striking and mounted on a scale that complements the larger-than-life tone of 'King.' ” That balance between action and spectacle is something audiences have come to expect from Shah Rukh Khan’s films.
Alongside Shah Rukh Khan, the film stars Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji and Suhana Khan.
