Sunjay Kapur, Karisma Kapoor's ex husband dies at 53 after sudden heart attack

Businessman Sunjay Kapur, former husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, passed away at the age of 53 after reportedly suffering a heart attack while playing polo in England.

The news has sent shockwaves through both social and business circles, as Sanjay was well known not only for his association with the film industry but also as a prominent corporate figure.

Sunjay Kapur was married to Priya Sachdev at the time of his passing. Their relationship followed his much-publicised marriage and subsequent separation from Karisma Kapoor.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2003, faced increasing challenges in their marriage and officially split in 2014 after a prolonged legal battle. Together, they have two children—daughter Samaira and son Kiaan.

Adding a particularly poignant note to the day, Kapur had earlier expressed his condolences over the devastating Air India crash that occurred near Ahmedabad on the same day. In what would be one of his final social media posts, he wrote, “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour. #planecrash.”

Sanjay's sudden death has left many in shock, especially given his active lifestyle and involvement in sports like polo.

Friends and associates have since poured in tributes, recalling him as a dynamic entrepreneur and a devoted father. His business contributions, especially through his role at the automotive company Sona Comstar, were widely recognised and appreciated in industry circles.
