Wrestler and motivational speaker Sangram Singh has finally addressed how ongoing divorce rumours have impacted his wife, actress Payal Rohatgi, in an emotional and revealing interview. The couple, who tied the knot in 2022, found themselves at the center of public speculation a few days ago when Payal resigned from her role at Sangram’s charitable foundation. This move led many to assume that all was not well in their marriage, especially as their third anniversary approached.

Despite Sangram’s earlier clarification that they were still very much together, the buzz refused to die down. Speaking to News18 Showsha, Sangram shed light on how deeply the rumours affected Payal, even if he had learned to tune such chatter out.

“10–12 years ago, such news would affect me. Even a single negative comment would hurt me. But now, I’ve developed a thick skin. We lead public lives, so the idea is to not get affected by what people say. People love reading negative headlines. But Payal ji was affected. She overthinks a lot and then explodes.”

The timing of the rumour mill’s churn couldn’t have been worse. According to Sangram, their third anniversary was marred by frantic phone calls from friends, family, and media outlets, all seeking clarity.

“We began getting frantic messages from family members, relatives and members of the media. We kept wondering what we should do, and that’s when I decided to issue a clarification. And once I posted the picture, it cleared the air. But all of this felt wrong. I don’t understand why people speculate without confirming with us first. These things affect our families.”

The ordeal also spotlighted Payal’s blunt and expressive nature. Known for her appearances on reality shows like Bigg Boss and Lock Upp, Payal has always worn her heart on her sleeve. But this same openness led to criticism, especially after her combative exchange with journalists seeking her response.

Sangram revealed that in earlier times, he would often urge her not to post impulsively on social media for the sake of her public image. But over time, he accepted that this is simply who she is.

“I’ve often told her in the past not to put up certain things on social media as it affects her image and reputation, but she disagrees. Agar unko khushi mile, toh daale. Payal ji has no filter and is blunt, but that’s her nature.”

Despite their differences, Sangram acknowledged that it’s precisely their contrasting personalities that hold them together.

“But hum alag hai, issi liye saath hai. Had we been similar, we wouldn’t have been together.”
