Comedian Samay Raina has recently sparked controversy after YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia commented about parents on India’s Got Latent. Multiple FIRs have been filed against the comedian and the YouTuber. Samay has since deleted all the episodes of his show and reportedly is in a bad place.
Samay’s close friend, Shwetabh Gangwar, shared a video on his social media reflecting on Samay’s current condition. He revealed that he had a phone call with Samay and realised that the comedian was “scared and depressed.” However, he later deleted the clip.
In the now-deleted video, Shwetabh revealed that he had talked with Samay on the phone and revealed that he sounded low, indicating he was deeply affected by the ongoing controversy.
Samay’s friend said, “Bhaisahab, toota hua hai vo insaan (He is a broken man). When the controversy first erupted, I could still see the old Samay in him, but when I spoke to him last time, I saw a broken man... depressed, sad, scared.”
Shwetabh further shared that he had temporarily stepped away from social media as he felt helpless as he was unable to support his friend Samay during his struggles. He admitted, "I was emotionally drained. I couldn't see my friend like that.”
Shwetabh also revealed that their mutual friends Ranveer, Apoorva Mukhija, and Ashish Chanchlani are also going through difficult times.
The comedian is currently busy with his tour in Canada. He has requested time until March 17 to return to India and provide an official statement. During one of his recent shows, Samay briefly addressed the controversy and said, “Thanks for paying my lawyer’s fees.”
However, Samay’s latest comment sparked another controversy and received backlash from the Supreme Court. During the latest hearing of the Allahbadia case, Justice Surya Kant called out Samay and said, “These youngsters are being overly smart. They think we are probably an outdated generation. One of them has gone to Canada and spoken there. They don't know the jurisdiction this Court enjoys and what can be done. We don't want to take action because they are young; we understand.”
