In the latest development regarding the Samay Raina controversy, the comedian has been summoned by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell and has been asked to appear before them on March 19.
Raina was initially called in on Monday to record his statement in connection with the India’s Got Latent show, but he failed to appear. The Cyber Cell has now issued a fresh summons for Wednesday. Other accused individuals in the case, including Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, and Apoorva Makhija, have already recorded their statements.
According to ANI, after Raina missed his scheduled statement recording on February 18, the authorities stated that they would issue a summons by today. The comedian had previously requested to provide his statement via video conference, citing his ongoing comedy tour in the U.S. and Canada.
However, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell rejected his request, insisting that he appear in person.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has issued a stern warning to influencer Ranveer Allahbadia, advising him not to take society for granted and to refrain from making inappropriate statements. Amid multiple FIRs filed against him, Allahbadia has requested the court to consolidate all charges pressed against him into a single case.
On February 24, Ranveer Allahbadia admitted his mistake while giving his statement to the investigating officer. According to sources, the YouTuber explained to the police that he attended India’s Got Latent because of his friendship with Samay Raina.
He acknowledged that making the controversial remark during the show was an error on his part and took full responsibility for his words.
The controversy erupted after Allahbadia, during an episode of Raina’s show, posed an inappropriate question to a contestant. The remark sparked widespread backlash, leading to legal scrutiny and public criticism.
