Samantha Ruth Prabhu speaks up on nebuliser pic controversy, says ‘A certain gentleman has attacked my post and said I should be thrown in prison’

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has finally responded to criticism from a Doctor regarding her advocacy of unconventional medical practices. She had suggested using hydrogen peroxide nebulisation for treating viral infection and had even posted a photo of herself undergoing the treatment.

Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, known as “The Liver Doc”, strongly condemned her approach, highlighting the potential dangers to health associated with such practices. He criticised the actor, calling her “health and science illiterate.” Philips further tweeted, “In a rational and scientifically progressive society, this woman will be charged with endangering public health and fined or put behind bars.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu addressed the comments of Dr. Philip in a lengthy Instagram post. She clarified that she is “not naive enough to go about strongly advocating a treatment. I merely suggested with good intention because of all that I have faced and learnt in the last couple of years. Especially that treatments can be financially draining and many may not be able to afford them.”

Samantha noted that Dr. Philips, although with ‘noble’ intentions, had ‘rather strong words.’

She wrote, “A certain gentleman has attacked my post and my intentions with rather strong words. Said gentleman is a Doctor too. I have no doubt that he knows more than I do. And I am quite sure his intentions were noble. It would have been kind and compassionate of him had he not been so provocative with his words. Especially the bit where he suggests I should be thrown in prison. Never mind. I suppose it goes with the territory of being a celebrity.”

Dr. Philips responded to Prabhu’s Instagram post and further called her nebuliser post “unscientific, pseudoscientific and baseless alternative medicine therapies.”

He continued, “Please note, she is a serial offender in the context of healthcare misinformation and she has been in the line of fire previously too. The reason why doctors like me have to spend (waste) time from our busy schedules to fight misinformation online is because it is peddled by large influential "celebrity" accounts that have no regard for public health. I expected better from someone who claims that she wants to "improve." This is far from improvement. A rational and logical response would be to delete the public health endangering posts and apologize to her millions of followers and vouch to never quote or cite fraudulent practices or practitioners. “

The actress disclosed on social media that she's opted for this unique approach to treat a recent illness, opting for a nebuliser to administer the medication effectively. Sharing a candid snapshot of herself undergoing the nebulisation process, Samantha emphasised the importance of exploring alternative healthcare methods.

She wrote, “Before taking medication for a common viral, consider trying an alternative approach. One option is to nebulise with a mixture of Hydrogen peroxide and distilled water. Works like magic. Avoid unnecessary use of pills.”
