The newest romantic musical from director Mohit Suri, Saiyaara, has blown up the box office in a spectacular demonstration of star power and musical magic.
The film, which stars debutant Ahaan Panday and newcomer Aneet Padda, made an astounding Rs 19–20 crore nett on its first day of release as per early estimates according to Sacnilk.
Saiyaara is comfortably ranked in the top five openers of 2025 thanks to this impressive start.
Despite having fewer screens and experiencing capacity issues in key circuits, it has performed better than big-budget productions like Chhaava, Housefull 5, Sikandar, and Raid 2, which starred Ajay Devgn and benefited from a partial Labour Day holiday.
To put its popularity into numbers, Saiyaara clocked an overall 44.33% Hindi occupancy on Friday, July 18, 2025. Here's how the day panned out:
According to Sacnilk, take a look at Saiyaara Day 1 Hindi (2D) Occupancy in Theatres:
Morning Shows: 35.51%
Afternoon Shows: 46.62%
Evening Shows: 50.85%
According to Movie Talkies, with its opening day figures, Saiyaara now stands as the fourth biggest opener of the year, trailing only behind Chhaava (₹29 crore), Sikandar (₹25 crore), and Housefull 5 (₹22 crore). Considering the film was made on a significantly smaller budget than its competitors, its commercial prospects already look exceptionally strong. Should the film continue its momentum into the weekdays, it’s very likely to attain Superhit status—if not Blockbuster.
Director Mohit Suri, known for crafting emotionally resonant romantic dramas, appears to have rediscovered his magic touch with Saiyaara.
The film’s soulful soundtrack and heartfelt storytelling have resonated well with audiences, offering a perfect launchpad for its young stars. Both Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have delivered promising performances, and their fresh pairing is being widely appreciated.
