Two days after Saif Ali Khan was brutally stabbed by an intruder at his home, police have revealed new details about how the assailant managed to escape following the attack.

According to a report by the Times of India, an investigating officer revealed that Saif Ali Khan attempted to trap the intruder by gathering everyone behind him in the corridor and pulling the door of the room. However, in the chaos, he was unable to lock the door from the outside. This lapse allowed the assailant to flee while Khan, his wife, their children, and the staff hurried out to seek help.

The police have not yet determined the exact route the intruder took after fleeing the building. However, Bandra police suspect that he used the fire escape stairwell to access Saif Ali Khan’s 11th-floor residence. A source said, "There's a second image of the intruder, his face covered with a mask. It was captured on the sixth floor. And after the attack, he left by the same route. His face was not covered while leaving the building."

The police also mentioned that the intruder’s arrest will provide clarity on how he gained access to the flat, whether by using a tool to pick the lock or through another route, such as the toilet. An armed robbery case has been filed in connection with the attack.

The intruder was only captured on CCTV footage while on the stairs of the building, as there are limited cameras in the area. According to the domestic help, there are no cameras on the floor leading to Saif Ali Khan's apartment, nor inside the flat itself.

Despite extensive efforts, the assailant remains unidentified, with newly obtained CCTV footage indicating attempts to mislead the investigators. Police believe the attacker could be a "hardened criminal" after discovering he changed his clothes in an effort to avoid being recognized. Initial footage from Saif Ali Khan's building showed the intruder wearing a dark, full-sleeve T-shirt, while later footage near Lucky Junction captured him in a light blue half-sleeve shirt, suggesting a deliberate attempt to evade capture.
