Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was seriously injured in a knife attack on him following a burglary attempt at his posh Bandra residence in the early hours of January 16.
First there was sympathy with the actor after being stabbed six times but after his discharge from the hospital, there were many who doubted the actor and some even called the attack 'staged'. Now after many weeks, Saif Ali Khan has decided to put forth his side of the story in front of people and put end to all the rumours.
In an exclusive chat with Bombay Times, Saif Ali Khan described the entire incident and whether his younger son Taimur accompanied him to the hospital that fateful night.
He told the newspaper, that indeed it was Taimur and also that his wife Kareena was making frantic calls. He said 'we looked at each other, and I said, ‘I’m fine. I’m not going to die.’
Saif Ali Khan said Taimur did accompany him to the hospital and Taimur asked ‘Are you going to die?’ I said, ‘No.’
"And we all headed downstairs. It was a filmi scene where I was covered in blood and we took two decorative swords off the wall. And that’s what Taimur saw – me covered in blood and Hari, the other house help, holding two swords. So, it was vaguely heroic, at least that moment (laughs). We said – ‘let’s get him’. And Kareena said – ‘No, let’s get out! Because we’ve got to get you to a hospital, and I’ve got to get Jeh out of here because I feel he’s (the intruder) still around, and there could be more of them.’
So then we all went downstairs. Kareena was shouting for a rickshaw, or a cab, or anything. I said, I kind of feel some pain. There’s something wrong with my back. She said – you go to the hospital and I’ll go to my sister’s house. She was making calls frantically – but nobody was up. And we looked at each other, and I said, ‘I’m fine. I’m not going to die.’
And Taimur also asked me – ‘Are you going to die?’ I said, ‘No.’, he said in the interview.
Saif Ali Khan is on the path to recovery after the attack. He made his first appearance at the launch of his next film 'Jewel Thief - The Heist Begins' for Netflix earlier this month.
Saif was also spotted with bandage around his neck on the scars.
The 54-year-old actor was stabbed repeatedly by an intruder during a robbery attempt at his 12th floor residence in Satguru Sharan in Mumbai's Bandra area in the early hours of January 16. He underwent surgery and was discharged four days later.
Saif has already completed shooting for the movie, which will be released directly on Netflix.
