Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is gearing up for the release of the upcoming Netflix film Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins. However, the actor has already secured a new thrilling project.
Saif is all set to collaborate with the famous filmmaker Priyadarshan, who is known for the famous franchises like Hera Pheri and Bhool Bhulaiya. The actor has recently confirmed the collaboration.
During a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Saif Ali Khan said, “Yes, I am doing a film with Priyadarshan next. I play a blind guy. Very exciting.” The upcoming project will mark the first time that Saif and Priyadarshan will be collaborating despite being in the entertainment industry for around two decades.
Priyadarshan will make the Hindi remake of Mohanlal's film, Oppam. Saif will play the lead role of a visually challenged protagonist. The role was played by Mohanlal in the original film. Meanwhile, Bobby Deol is rumoured to play the role of the lead antagonist.
However, Priyadarshan hoped to complete shooting of the film by September 2024. The production was initially scheduled to kick off in July 2024 with a 40-day shooting schedule. However, the filmmaker’s plans changed, and the shooting is now expected to begin soon in 2025.
For the unversed, Priyadarshan's 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam revolves around a visually impaired man, played by Mohanlal, caught up in a murder inquiry.
Priyadarshan is also currently working on Hera Pheri 3 with the iconic trio Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty and Paresh Rawal. Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan has several projects under his timeline including, Go Goa Gone 2.
