Mumbai Police, which is investigating the near fatal attack on Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence in the wee hours today, gave a major update on the entry of the intruder in the actor's residence.
Mumbai police official told reporters waiting outside Saif's Bandra residence that the intruder entered the building using staircase and also escaped from the back door.
Dixit Gedam, DCP Zone 9, Mumbai Police said: "Last night, the accused used a fire escape staircase to enter Saif Ali Khan's house. It appears to be a robbery attempt. We working to arrest the accused. 10 Detection teams are working on the case. An offence has been registered in Bandra Police Station."
He further told reporters that the teams are on the lookout for the intruder who is on the run currently. But the team are on ground and that the suspect will be arrested soon.
Mumbai crime branch has formed seven teams to track down the suspect in the stabbing case.

CCTV visuals of the unidentified intruder who repeatedly stabbed actor Saif Ali Khan inside his apartment in Mumbai's Bandra area early Thursday morning have been traced on the sixth floor of the building, police sources said.
The star lives on the 12th floor of Satguru Sharan apartments. As per the sources, the intruder used the staircase to escape after the attack.
Police had questioned three househelps of the actor in connection with the case. There were many questions that were left unanswered - as to how did the person gain entry into Saif's penthouse since its entry is only via a personal lift with biometric.

Police are also questioning the angle that if any of househelp knew the intruder and that he/she led the person in the actor's house. Police have questioned the three househelps in connection with the attack.
Saif received 6 stab wounds and out of which 2 were deep wounds. The actor has now undergone surgery at Lilavati hospital and is recovering well.
His wife Kareena, children Sara and Ibrahim are also with him at the hospital.
