For Saiee M Manjrekar, stepping into a pre-Independence period drama isn’t just another role—it’s an entirely new experience that has pushed her out of her comfort zone in the best way possible.
The actor seems both excited and challenged by the journey, describing it as something very different from anything she has done before.
Talking about the process, Saiee M Manjrekar shared how preparing for the role has been far more intense than usual. It’s not just about memorising lines or showing up on set—it’s about fully understanding a different time and way of life.
From how people spoke to how they carried themselves, everything requires careful attention and authenticity.
She said, “This project has honestly been one of the most challenging and exciting journeys for me so far. A period drama, especially one set in the pre-Independence era, demands a lot more than just learning lines and showing up on set. There is so much homework involved, reading, researching the time, understanding how people lived, spoke, carried themselves, and even how they expressed emotions back then. Everything is rooted in a certain discipline and grace which is very different from the world we live in today.”
What seems to have fascinated her the most is the level of detail involved. Even the smallest gestures—how you walk, sit, or react—need to feel true to the era. “What fascinated me the most was how detailed the process is. From body language to posture, from the way you walk into a room to how you react in silence nothing can feel modern. You have to unlearn many habits and consciously build a new physical and emotional vocabulary. It’s demanding, but that’s what makes it so fulfilling. As an actor, I feel incredibly lucky to be part of a film that allows me to explore a completely different time and pushes me to grow.”
