Pushing boundaries is nothing new to Rishab Shetty, whether it's in his performance, storytelling, or the unwavering passion he puts into each shot.
However, the actor-director is going above and beyond with Kantara Chapter 1, managing the demanding demands of both being in front of and behind the camera.
Opening up in a recent interview, Rishab Shetty shared what it’s really like to wear both hats on set — something that might sound glamorous, but is anything but easy.
The strain of overseeing performances and production can become unbearable, especially during intense action sequences. Yet somehow, Shetty makes it work.
“In some action sequences I was performing, and at the same time, in the background there were issues,” he recalled. “Immediately I would grab the mic, go to a height and talk to the artists. It used to switch immediately between actor and director. But the character I play is also like that — so it felt organic.”
That sense of flow — of one role feeding into the other — seems to be a theme in Kantara Chapter 1. And it’s not hard to see why.
Perhaps reflecting Shetty's own energy on set, the character she portrays is powerful, intense, and firmly grounded in emotion and action.
A sneak peek at that power can be found in the recently released trailer. Shetty's unvarnished, captivating on-screen persona has already caught the attention of viewers, who have praised everything from his dramatic action scenes to the emotional depth of his performance.

The film, which is produced by the dependable Hombale Films, which has produced a number of noteworthy hits in recent years, promises an engrossing blend of drama, folklore, and action-packed excitement. In addition to being a spectacle, Kantara Chapter 1 is developing into a very personal movie for Shetty, one that embodies his dedication to telling stories in their most authentic form.
There is a growing sense that this could be another pivotal moment in Rishab Shetty's already remarkable career as the countdown to the October 2 release begins.
He’s not just playing a role — he’s living it, directing it, and inviting the audience to experience it with him.
