CBI clears Rhea Chakraborty in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case

Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty has received some relief after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a closure report on the alleged suicide case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput on Saturday.

Rhea’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, has recently issued an official statement saying that they are grateful to CBI for the closure.

He also talked about everything Rhea had to endure for the last five years.

According to PTI, Rhea’s lawyer said, "We are grateful to the CBI for having thoroughly investigated every aspect of the case from all angles and closed the case.”

Maneshinde also expressed his disapproval of the widespread "false narrative in social media and electronic media (over Rajput's death and Chakraborty's alleged involvement) was totally uncalled for".

He elaborated, “Due to the (Covid-19) pandemic, everyone was glued to the television and social media in the absence of anything happening in the country. Innocent people were hounded and paraded before the media and investigative authorities.”

The lawyer continued in the statement, “Rhea Chakraborty had to undergo untold miseries and was behind bars for 27 days before being released on bail.”

Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer’s statement came soon after the CBI closed the case of Sushant Singh Rajput's death, concluding that no one else was involved in his death.

After nearly five years of investigation, the CBI found no evidence to support claims that anyone drove him to suicide. The report gives a clean chit to Rhea Chakraborty and her family of any wrongdoing, confirming that Sushant took his own life.

Sushant’s father, KK Singh, filed a police complaint in Patna, accusing Rhea Chakraborty of pushing Sushant to commit suicide and taking Rs 15 crore from his accounts. However, Rhea Chakraborty also filed a complaint with Bandra police, saying Sushant's sisters gave him medicines based on a fake prescription from a Delhi hospital.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Shouvik, in connection with his death. They had been questioned for hours multiple times in this regard.
