Fans of Malayalam cinema have something to look forward to this November as Sharafudheen and Anupama Parameswaran’s The Pet Detective makes its OTT debut.

Sharafudheen plays Tony Jose Alula, a private detective whose career isn’t exactly taking off. Eager to prove himself, he jumps at the chance to impress his love interest Kaikeyi (Anupama Parameswaran) and her father by taking on what seems like a simple case: a missing pet.

But predictably, things don’t go as planned. Tony soon finds himself caught up in a whirlwind of kidnappers, international smugglers, exotic fish dealers, a missing child, and even a Mexican mafia don. What starts as a small case quickly turns into a hilarious, chaotic adventure.

After entertaining audiences in theatres, the quirky, fast-paced comedy is now coming to ZEE5 from 28 November, letting viewers enjoy the fun from the comfort of their homes. With its lively performances and chaotic humour, the film promises a thoroughly enjoyable ride.

Director Praneesh Vijayan turns this story into a laugh-out-loud comedy packed with slapstick humour, colourful characters, and overlapping action sequences. According to a press note, the film has the same infectious energy as classic Priyadarshan comedies, offering a family-friendly experience that’s fast, funny, and full of surprises.

Alongside Sharafudheen and Anupama Parameswaran, the film features Vinayakan, Vinay Forrt, Shyam Mohan, and Joemon Jyothir in supporting roles.

Since this project is Sharafudheen's first as a producer, it holds particular significance for him and his fans.

The release was rescheduled from April 25, 2025, to October 16, 2025, in order to avoid conflict with other major motion pictures. In addition to certain foreign markets like the UK, Ireland, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain, it opened throughout India. The film's humour, performances, music, screenplay, and direction were all praised by critics, which helped it become a hit with viewers.

Rated U in India and 12A in the UK for mild violence and occasional strong language, The Pet Detective is the perfect blend of fun, chaos, and heart. For anyone who missed it in theatres, it’s ready to bring laughter into your living room on ZEE5 from 28 November.
