A year after making controversial remarks about actor-producer Nagarjuna Akkineni and his family, Telangana Minister Konda Surekha has officially apologised and withdrawn her statements.

The apology comes in the wake of ongoing legal action initiated by Nagarjuna. Taking to X, the minister issued a public statement expressing remorse and clarifying that her comments were never meant to hurt the actor or his family.

Her statement read, "I would wish to clarify that the statement I had made in relation to @iamnagarjuna Garu was not intended to hurt Nagarjuna Garu or his family members. I had no intention of hurting or defaming Akkineni Nagarjuna Garu or his family members."

"I regret any unintended impression given in my statements in relation to them and withdraw the same," the post concluded.

Nagarjuna, who said nothing during the controversy, is receiving a lot of praise for his composed and respectful demeanour. The veteran actor has received praise from both fans and colleagues for his decision to let the legal proceedings play out rather than publicly respond.

“The actor’s measured response stands as a firm reminder that integrity always outshines provocation,” sources noted.

Political figures and members of the film fraternity have also welcomed Konda Surekha’s apology, reiterating the deep respect the Akkineni family commands across India’s entertainment industry.

The controversy dates back to October 2, 2024, when Konda Surekha made defamatory remarks involving former Minister and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and actor Nagarjuna. She had speculated that KTR was somehow responsible for Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya’s divorce, comments that quickly drew widespread criticism.
