The first look poster of Sigma has set off a wave of curiosity. The film marks the directorial debut of Jason Sanjay, son of Thalapathy Vijay, and the project is now close to completion under Lyca Productions.
After a shooting schedule that stretched across four months and 65 working days, the team has wrapped up nearly 95 percent of the film, with just one song sequence left before it heads into post-production.
Sigma positions itself as an action-adventure comedy. Jason Sanjay, who has written the script as well, builds the story around a lone-wolf protagonist who refuses to conform to society’s expectations.
The narrative ties this rebellious individual to a high-risk treasure hunt that spirals into heists, conflicts with criminal networks, and moments of humor that lighten the stakes. The idea isn’t just about adrenaline; there’s a thematic thread about choosing one’s own path.
Sundeep Kishan steps into the central role and this film aims to present him as a full-fledged action lead. The cast includes Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Sampath Raj, Kiran Konda, and Magalakshmi Sudharsanan. The team has kept a few cameo appearances under wraps, likely reserving them as surprises closer to release.
Lyca Productions’ CEO Tamil Kumaran spoke about the production experience in straightforward terms: Jason Sanjay’s clarity and planning helped the film stay on schedule and within estimated costs. He pointed out that completing such a large-scale film, with multiple locations and an ensemble cast, in just 65 days is notable for any filmmaker, let alone a first-timer. For Lyca, this project is not just a film but the launch of a new filmmaker they expect to back for years to come.
Jason Sanjay describes Sigma as a film rooted in the idea of the individual who walks alone. He calls the “sigma” archetype a fearless, self-driven figure unconcerned with approval or norms. He also credits his crew and cast for ensuring the film stayed on track. He highlights Thaman’s score as a driving force and points to Sundeep Kishan’s energy as central to the tone and pace of the film.
The film’s technical team includes cinematographer Krishnan Vasant, editor Praveen KL, and art director Benjamin M. Shooting has taken place across Chennai, Salem, Thalakona, and Thailand, with both natural landscapes and constructed sets playing into the visual design.
Produced simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, Sigma is now headed toward post-production. The makers are aiming for an early summer release, positioning the film as both a mainstream entertainer and a statement of arrival for a new director finding his voice.
