Finally, the trailer for Kantara: Chapter 1 was released by Hombale Films and Rishab Shetty, and it has already become a cultural phenomenon.
Fans were eager to see how the story started after Kantara's explosive success in 2022, and the prequel appears intent on exceeding even the most ambitious expectations.
The trailer gained over 3.4 million likes and over 107 million views in a single day. The fact that it became the most shared trailer in a single day, however, was what really grabbed attention and showed that viewers weren't just watching it; they were compelled to share it.
Now sitting at over 160 million views, it’s safe to say the film has already tapped into something special.
This chapter is even more exciting because of its global aspirations. For the first time in the franchise, the movie will be released in several languages, including Spanish. Rishab himself can’t wait to see how audiences respond. “Pehli film main leke aara hoon, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, sab language mein. Even in Spanish. Main bohot curious hoon ki Spanish mein mera sound kaisa hoga. Bohot curious hoon main. It's like a first film. Pehli baar kar rahan hoon main, ye feel hai mera,” he smiled as he shared. His words convey the artist's wide-eyed wonder at seeing his world expand internationally.
Rishab and his wife Pragathi went to the Kollur Mookambika Temple to pray and ask for blessings in celebration of the trailer's release. According to him, the movie is a spiritual journey with strong religious and folkloric roots rather than merely a work of cinema.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is a massive production behind the camera. This promises to be an immersive experience thanks to production design by Vinesh Banglan, cinematography by Arvind Kashyap, and music by B. Ajaneesh Loknath.
One of the highlights is a jaw-dropping war sequence, choreographed with both national and international specialists. Featuring 500 fighters and 3,000 extras, shot over 45–50 days across a 25-acre rugged set, it’s being hailed as one of the grandest ever mounted in Indian cinema.
The film is set to hit cinemas worldwide on 2 October, releasing in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali and English. With its unique blend of cultural depth and cinematic scale, Kantara: Chapter 1 is not just a prequel — it’s a promise of folklore, faith, and firepower brought to life on the big screen.
