Actor-producer Ravi Mohan has suffered a setback in the Delhi High Court after a copyright infringement case was filed against him by Indospirit Beverages.

The court has restrained him from using, publishing, or promoting the title Bro Code for his upcoming film, marking a reversal of his earlier win in the Madras High Court earlier this month.

Ravi Mohan Studios’ legal team argued that the Madras High Court had already passed an interim order in their favour based on “groundless threats.” However, the Delhi High Court dismissed this argument, ruling that once an infringement suit has been filed, the pendency of a “groundless threat” suit cannot prevent the issuance of an injunction in the infringement proceedings.

As per the court order dated October 14, 2025, the studio has been directed to drop or change the title Bro Code while promoting or releasing the film until the case reaches a final decision.

According to Bar and Bench, Justice Tejas Karia stated that using an identical mark for a film title could create confusion among consumers and damage the goodwill and reputation associated with Indospirit’s established brand.

Indospirit Beverages told the court that it launched its “BROCODE” beverage in 2015 and has since built a strong market presence. The company holds registered trademarks in several classes, including 32 and 33, which cover alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Over the years, the BROCODE brand has grown into a well-known cultural name through creative marketing campaigns, online content, and brand collaborations. In 2025, the company even ventured into the entertainment space with BroCode Roast on YouTube, which racked up more than 200 million views, and a music video titled BroCode: Onam Ulsavam Song.

In September 2025, Indospirit discovered that Ravi Mohan Studios was promoting a film under the title BRO CODE. Despite meetings, follow-up emails, and a cease-and-desist notice sent on October 4, 2025, the studio allegedly continued using the mark in promotional materials.

The court has now asked Ravi Mohan Studios to file a reply within four weeks, with the next hearing scheduled for December 23, 2025.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Ravi Mohan is producing and starring in director Karthik Yogi’s film Bro Code, alongside Arjun Ashokan, SJ Suryah, Upendra, Shraddha Srinath, Gouri Priya, Malavika Manoj, and Aishwarya Raj.
