Director Anil Ravipudi, who is currently basking on the success of his recent film Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, recently shared the reason why he decided not to direct the Tamil film Jana Nayagan. He spoke openly about his choice and made it clear that he prefers working on only new and fresh stories instead of repeating old ones.
Anil Ravipudi explained that Jana Nayagan was planned as a remake of his own Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari starring Balakrishna. He felt that directing the same story again in another language would not give him creative satisfaction. He added that he always moves forward with new ideas and new emotions and believes repeating the same film can limit a director’s growth.
The film Jana Nayagan stars Tamil superstar Vijay in the lead role. Reports say Vijay was very interested in remaking Bhagavanth Kesari and wanted Anil Ravipudi to direct it. However Anil had already decided to focus on original scripts. So Anil politely declined the offer even though it was a big project.
Sources also revealed that Vijay wanted the remake to stay very close to the original story. This was another reason why Anil felt it was better to step away.
Meanwhile Jana Nayagan is facing delays due to censor related issues. The film release has been put on hold and the makers are dealing with legal matters. The Telugu version of the film will be released under the title Jana Nayakudu once all issues are cleared.
