Rani Mukerji won the Best Actress award at the 71st National Film Awards, making it an evening to remember. However, the fact that she wasn't celebrating alone added even more significance to the event.
Her family was right there beside her, turning the honour into a memory filled with love, laughter, and togetherness.
At Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, where the ceremony was held on 23 September, Rani was joined by her brother Ram Mukherjee, sister-in-law Jyoti Mukherjee, and niece Myiesha. For them, it wasn’t just about watching Rani receive one of Indian cinema’s highest honours — it was about being part of her joy.
Later, Jyoti posted pictures to Instagram, giving followers a peek at the formal ceremony as well as the more laid-back, unscripted moments that transpired. A side of the celebration that no award show camera could adequately portray was captured in those photos, which were filled with hugs, smiles, and pride.
That evening was also a celebration for choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant, who won the National Award for Best Choreography for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani's lively Dhindora Baje Re.
Similar to Rani, Vaibhavi commemorated the event by posting private, behind-the-scenes photos of herself online, showcasing the happiness of success and the ties of friendship.
One picture in particular, of Rani and Vaibhavi holding awards and smiling at each other, said it all.
The image showed two accomplished women who were bonded by their shared respect and admiration for one another in addition to their success.
Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, and Karan Johar were among the celebrities who attended the star-studded ceremony.
The warm group photos, which included one with famous makeup artist Mickey Contractor, were more memorable than the red carpet poses, though, and gave the impression that the evening was a family celebration rather than a significant milestone for the industry.
