Ranbir Kapoor recently shared a hilarious and bizarre fan encounter that led him to jokingly refer to his “first wife” — though it wasn’t his real-life wife, Alia Bhatt. The Animal actor revealed a funny incident from his early years in the industry during an interview.

He recalled a time when a fan-girl showed up at his bungalow, accompanied by a pandit, with plans to marry him. However, since Ranbir wasn’t home at the time, the fan took a rather unusual step.

Recounting the unusual experience, Ranbir told Mashable India, “I wouldn’t say craziest, as it is used in a negative way, but I remember, in my early years, there was a girl—I never met her—but my watchman told me that she came with a pandit and married my gate.”

The story continued with Ranbir describing how the gate of his bungalow was adorned with tika and flowers in a mock wedding ceremony, all while he was away, likely out of town. “At the bungalow where I lived with my parents, there was tika on the gate and some flowers. I was out of town at the time, I think, so that was quite crazy. I haven’t yet met my first wife, so I look forward to meeting you at some point,” he added with a laugh.

While this humorous tale may seem a bit eccentric, it shows the extreme lengths to which some fans go to express their admiration. Ranbir, who has been married to actress Alia Bhatt since April 2022, seems to take it all in stride. The couple also welcomed their daughter, Raha, in November 2022.
