The legendary Indo-Japanese animated film, Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama, was introduced to a new generation on January 22nd at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The special screening, attended by over 200 schoolchildren, marked their first exposure to the anime adaptation of Valmiki’s Ramayana.
This significant event also coincided with the first anniversary of the pran pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The event began with a welcoming address by Shri Asim Arun, the Minister of State for Social Welfare & SC/ST Welfare in the Uttar Pradesh government.
In a historic first, a film has made its pre-release debut at the Maha Kumbh festival, the largest human gathering in the world, held every 12 years at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. The screening of *Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama at this spiritually significant event adds a unique layer to the festival's rich traditions. The occasion offers a remarkable opportunity to present this cinematic retelling of Lord Rama's epic journey.

Directed by Koichi Sasaki and Ram Mohan, Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama stands as a remarkable achievement in cinema, celebrated for its seamless blend of Indian storytelling traditions and Japanese animation craftsmanship.
The film, which has garnered international acclaim, will be released in Indian cinemas on January 24th, 2025, in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English. The film will be distributed in Ultra HD 4K by Geek Pictures India, AA Films, and Excel Entertainment.
