Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has recently requested the court for permission to travel to Dubai for a Diwali event. However, the Delhi High Court has asked for a response from Murli Projects Private Limited and the Delhi Police on the same.
Justice Ravinder Dudeja has sent notices to the Delhi Police and Murli Projects. The next hearing has been scheduled for October 14.
Through his legal representative, Rajpal revealed that he had received an invitation from Bihari Global Connect to travel to Dubai from October 17 to 20 as a guest of honour to attend a Diwali program.
The actor entered his plea while his revision petition contesting the trial court's decision to convict him in the check-bounce case is still pending.
Rajpal has been allowed to travel overseas on several occasions before by the court. His conviction was temporarily stayed in June of last year, provided he took "sincere and genuine measures" to try to reach a mutually agreeable settlement with the other party.
Rajpal’s attorney had maintained that the financial dispute resulted from a legal transaction to finance a movie that ultimately lost a lot of money at the box office. Additionally, he mentioned that the actor had already completed about three months of service in the associated civil execution proceedings.
As the actor awaits the court's ruling on his next travel request, the case is still being heard at the Delhi High Court Mediation Centre.
Rajpal Yadav cheque-bounce controversy
For the unversed, actor Rajpal Yadav was given a six-month jail sentence and a fine of Rs 1.6 crore per case by Delhi's Karkardooma Court in a 2018 cheque-bounce case. He was soon released on bail. His conviction resulted from his inability to pay back a loan he had taken out in 2010 for his film production company, Atta Pata Lapta.
In this case, his wife, Radha Rajpal Yadav, and their business were also found guilty. Each of the seven cases received a sentence of six months in prison, with all sentences to be served concurrently.
Additionally, the actor was fined Rs 1.60 crore for each of the seven cases, totalling over Rs 11 crore. He was later granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000. Meanwhile, Rajpal’s wife was not sent to jail due to her medical condition.
